Arthur Hohl (21 May 1889 - 10 March 1964) was a stage and motion-picture actor. He began appearing in films in the early 1920's, and played a great number of villainous or mildly larcenous roles. Onscreen, his roles were usually very small. His two most often seen performances today are in the 1936 version of Show Boat (film), in which he plays Pete, the nasty boat engineer who tells the local sheriff about Julie (Helen Morgan) and her husband's (Donald Cook (actor)) secret interracial marriage, and his performance in Cecil B. DeMille's 1934 version of Cleopatra, in which he played Brutus. (Claudette Colbert was Cleopatra.) Hohl also appeared on the Broadway stage in plays by William Shakespeare, George Bernard Shaw, and Henrik Ibsen.
