Constitution Alteration (Democratic Elections) 1974 sought to modify the method of determining the size of electorates within each state, from being based on the number of voters to the total population. The question was put to a referendum in the Australian referendum, 1974.

Proposed law entitled "An Act to alter the Constitution so as to ensure that the members of the House of Representatives and of the parliaments of the states are chosen directly and democratically by the people".
