Constitution Alteration (Local Government Bodies) 1974 attempted to amend the constitution to allow the federal government to grant financial assistance to any local government body, and to make loans on their behalf. The question was put to a referendum in the Australian referendum, 1974.

Proposed law entitled "An Act to alter the Constitution to enable the Commonwealth to borrow money for, and to grant financial assistance to, local government bodies".
