Austropop

Austropop is a musical movement, which started in Austria in the middle of the 1970s. Apart from the artists all hailing from Austria, it is characterized by lyrics sung and written in Austrian German, hence making them fully intelligible in Austria and Southern Germany only. Despite these lingual limitations, many of the singers and groups are known throughout the entire German-speaking world.
