Siddiq Baluch

Siddiq Baluch is an English-language journalist from the Pakistani province of Balochistan. He is presently Editor-in-chief of the English daily Balochistan Express (Quetta), the Guardian (Karachi) Urdu daily Azadi, and English weekly Express, Quetta, and contributes columns regularly in DAWN. He is an authority on Balochistan’s social, political and economic matters. His articles on Balochistan-related issues have appeared in several newspapers of world.

Born in Karachi, Mr. Baluch worked for Pakistan’s oldest and most circulated English newspaper, DAWN, in different capacities for 28 years. He acted as President of the Karachi Union of Journalists for two terms, Vice-President of Karachi Press Club, and also as President of the Balochistan Newspapers Editors Council for two terms. Between 1972 – 73, he served as Press Secretary to the Governor of Balochistan

He is the author of the book, “ Political Economy of Balochistan”. He served as the press secretary of former Balochistan governor Mir Ghose Baksh Bezanjo and was sent to jail for four years after the later’s government was dismissed.

Mr. Baluch is one of the most widely quoted journalists by the Pakistani and International media on Balochistan related issues. He has extensively traveled as a part of his journalistic activities.
