Bustin' Loose is a 1981 film released by Universal Pictures. It stars Richard Pryor as an ex-con who gets a second chance after violating his probation. He has been hired by a school teacher named Vivian Perry (played by Cicely Tyson) to repair and drive a bus of special needs children from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to a farm in Washington state.
Bustin' Loose is also the name of a short-lived television sitcom loosely based on the feature film that starred comedian Jimmie Walker and Vonetta McGee in the fall of 1987 in syndication.
