Carnival of Carnage is the first Joker's Card by the Insane Clown Posse. It is also the first album to speak of The Dark Carnival. 'Carnival of Carnage' is a term used to describe the 'theatre of violence' that is the ghetto as we know it, with criminals all over. It also meant as a rage against the rich and government who do not care about the "filthy poor" and their part of town. This card was meant as an introduction to the Dark Carnival's message, but unlike the other 'Joker's Cards' it is not an 'it' like in a spirit of the Carnival, but a 'where' to describe the hell of Earth.
Carnival Of Carnage was originally released in 1992. However the album was later re-released and remastered by Island Records in 1998, but due to uncleared samples it lacked the tracks 'Blackin' Your Eyes' and 'Night of The Axe'. The outro to the latter is also moved to the beginning of the track 'Psychopathic'. It is once more released afterwards with the previously removed tracks included, and the original albums track order.

- The song "Wizard of the Hood" was taken from the tape Intelligence and Violence, originally titled "Wizard Of Delray". That version is the first known recording of the song. It was re-recorded with different lyrics for the Dog Beats EP and this is what appears here, although the Dog Beats version has a longer ending. Finally it became the name of Violent J's debut solo album Wizard Of The Hood, which goes further into the story of J's trip to 'Oz'.
- This album boasts an appearance by Kid Rock on the track 'Is That You?'.
