Emma Shapplin

Emma Shapplin (born Crystêle Madeline Joliton on May 19, 1974, Paris) is a French soprano who primarily performs contemporary classical crossover.

Emma Shapplin was raised in French language but chose to sing opera in ancient Italian because she thought it carried more passion.[citation needed] Her style is opera (soprano coloratura) combined with trance and/or pop to combine the archaic form of music with that of modern. Fairly unknown in the United States until composer Graeme Revell used her voice on his score for the movie Red Planet. They later collaborated on her second album Etterna, with Revell producing all of her songs. Her most famous song is Spente Le Stelle Yomanda Mix that she sang together with the Swedish cult figure Eddie Meduza in Stockholm in 1998.[citation needed]
