The Jehovah's Witnesses were an English rock band, formed in Corby, Northamptonshire in the early 1990's which contained three of the four members of the band The Bassets, a popular alt rock / indie band who reached the pinnacle of their success in 1996 at which point they appeared to many music industry insiders to be "the next big thing" and become a huge commercial success. For many different reasons - personal, musical and financial - the band stumbled at a critical point of their career from which they never recovered. The Jehovah's Witnesses split in early 1994, following which the three members regrouped in the autumn of that year as The Bassetts.

Hide Behind the Sofa, It's.... (EP) (1992)
Debut Release on Corby-based record label "Steelmen Records". Re-released by Parlaphone in September 1992 following the band's signing to the label, following the release of their second EP.
Buy One, Get One Free (EP) (1992)
Debut Parlaphone release.
The Best of The Jehovah's Witnesses (1993)
Debut LP, not commercially successful as the buying public did not understand the joke and were not keen on buying what they thought was a compilation album for a band they had not heard of.
This Way Up (1994)
Sophomore effort, and final album from The Jehovah's Witnesses. Released two weeks after the band's acrimonious split. Publicity duties, still required under the band's contractual obligations to Parlaphone, were undertaken by the Rennie, The Friday and Gilbert as required. Michael Marx, seen to be the catalyst of the split, refused to fulfil his duties in person and sent his mother to speak on his behalf.
