Kids' WB is the Saturday morning cartoon block of The CW Television Network's weekend programming. The CW is the result of The WB merge with UPN in 2006.

Contents

Kids' WB debuted on The WB, on Saturday, September 9, 1995, airing on Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. ET and weekday afternoons from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

  • On September 7, 1996, the Saturday block was extended by a full hour, airing from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. ET.
  • On September 1, 1997, Kids' WB started airing weekday mornings from 7:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m., and the weekday afternoon block was extended to 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Although, on some stations, such as KTLA in Los Angeles, California, the weekday afternoon block was expanded into 3 hours from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

  • On September 3, 2001, Kids' WB ceased airing weekday morning programming, and gave that slot to the local affiliates.
  • On January 2, 2006 the whole weekday block of Kids' WB was replaced, but the weekday-afternoon block got replaced by the new Daytime WB block. As a result, the Saturday morning block got an extra hour on January 7, 2006, and started to run from 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., no longer affected by time zone "at the request of the local affiliates".

  • On October 2, 2007, the network announced that it was ending the Kids' WB block due to the effects of children's advertising limits and cable competition, as of September 2008, in a joint decision between Warner Bros. and CBS, parent companies of The CW. At that time, the programming time will be sold to 4Kids Entertainment. With this deal, in the 2008-2009 season, 4Kids will run two different Saturday morning blocks; their current 4Kids TV block on Fox, and The CW's children's programming block.[1]

Some affiliates air the programming block at different times, however, most affiliates use the network's present Saturday morning schedule. Notably, WUPA Atlanta airs programming on Sundays instead of Saturdays.
