British Power International

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

British Power International is an independent consultancy with roots in the UK's electricity supply industry . British Power International has a long tradition of providing expertise in energy to governments, not-for-profit agencies, regulatory authorities and private companies.

Its distinctive capability is in the technical, commercial and strategic aspects of the production, supply and distribution of power. Expertise is focussed on power but our reach is worldwide. Based in the UK, we operate in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.

BPI's history spans some twenty five years. Formed in 1979 as British Electricity International, it was the international arm of the UK's electricity supply industry, exporting technical and commercial expertise worldwide. Following the privatisation of the electricity industry, ownership passed to a successor company and from 1996 (renamed as British Power International) it became part of Eastern Group, one of the UK's leading power companies.

In 1999 it became an independent consultancy practice, and as British Power International Limited, it operates in the UK and internationally. The work systems and processes are accredited to ISO 9000 (2000) standard.

BPI is based in Colchester in Essex.
