Vaasa Airport (Finnish: Vaasan lentokenttä; Swedish: Vasa flygfält) (IATA: VAA, ICAO: EFVA) is located about 9 km south east of Vaasa. It is the 7th biggest airport in Finland in terms of passengers. In 2006, 306,151 passengers traveled via the airport. The Vaasa Airport was Airport of the Year in Finland in 2005. Regular airliners to this airfield are Aero Airlines, Blue1, Finnair and Finncomm Airlines. During winters, the airport is also used by charter flight airliners with a destination to southern Europe. The airport has one runway. An older runway, the 11/29, is no longer used.
